Remember yesterday? I mean, not that 5-0 thrashing handed out by Arsenal, but when Paul Lambert spoke after the match. He said if Aston Villa could try to bring in one or two more players, they'd be doing it.
Well, let go of hope, Villa fans, because it looks like we're not going to see anyone else brought in this January.
Villa not planning any more business before deadline. Gil & Sinclair only recruits despite winless in 8, no goal 10hrs #bbcdeadlineday #avfc

Can't score a goal. Struggling, once again, against the drop. Christian Benteke has just two goals on the season. But sure, deciding not to try and pursue a forward makes perfect sense.
Actually, it probably does. It's likely the club have been searching for one for weeks, but nothing has made sense. They've already brought in Carles Gil and Scott Sinclair, both fairly decent moves. It's not Villa's transfer policy that's the problem, it's the actual players (and management) on the pitch.
But after results like yesterday's, not bringing in another player is likely just to further anger Villa fans. Plus, isn't this the sort of situation that "panic buys" and "desperation deals" were made for?
addendum -- Gregg Evans of the Birmingham Mail is still saying new signings are possible, but his piece is using Lambert's quotes from yesterday...
