Despite the fact that manager Paul Lambert appears to have a minuscule transfer budget, it doesn't mean that he isn't interested in bringing in players, specifically those available on free transfers. Last week, it was Philippe Senderos. His new target is Joe Cole, most recently of West Ham United. Cole is a former England international and a proven Premier League player. Having struggled with injuries lately, it makes you wonder how much Cole will be getting paid. Marc Albrighton was unable to come to terms with the club since they weren't able to match his wage demands of £35k per week. Maybe Cole will be able to help mentor Jack Grealish? Hopefully his signing doesn't slow down the progress of some of Aston Villa's promising youngsters. This is another less-than-encouraging signing looking towards the clubs future, which has been lacking in ambition lately.
What do you think about Villa signing Cole? Let us know in the comments!
