According to reports originating in Zimbabwe, Aston Villa are considering a move for Marvelous Nakamba of Club Brugge.

A dynamic rough-and-ready all-action midfielder, Nakamba has previously been sought by West Ham United.

Along with former teammate Wesley, who looks set to be announced as a Villan this week, Marvelous featured in Brugge's Champions League campaign.

Nakamba has only seen action for the Zimbabwe national team on seven occasions and while he may feature during the upcoming African Cup of Nations, a work permit will still be a tough ask.

Speaking of the Cup of Nations, Marvelous spoke to The Herald about the Zimbabwe squad. A useful read if you'd like to know more about him.

It would seem that Nakamba fits the template for a new defensive midfielder at the Villa. Tough-tackling and with the ability to deploy a variety of passes in an exceptional passing range, Nakamba wouldn't seem to be that different to another Villa target - Kalvin Phillips.

However, Nakamba will come at a high price - £20 million - a fee almost identical to the one that Leeds are asking for Phillips. A fee with paying? Yes. Nakamba fits the bill for Villa - but why not gun for Phillips?

Soon enough, we'll have an answer for that. Only time will tell, but it's one more exciting link for Villa fans to discuss.
