Scunthorpe United have today announced the surprise signing of Aston Villa’s youth prospect Jacob Bedeau on a free transfer. Bedeau has become the League One outfit’s 7th signing of the window.

The move, announced in the past hour, means that Villa will lose out on the signing, who joined a couple of years ago in a £1 million move from Bury, where he was playing first-team football.
Bedeau who failed to make a single appearance for Villa’s first-team will likely fight for a first-team position at Scunthorpe. Unlike the other youth prospects who have exited Villa today, Bedeau leaves the club on a permanent basis.
Bedeau has clear talent, and his time at Villa shouldn’t be looked upon as a failure on him - but it does represent a somewhat confusing piece of business for Villa, who may have been better off ignoring Bedeau entirely instead of spending money on signing him.
In a tweet, Jacob took his time to thank Aston Villa, and will now look forward to the start of a new journey. We wish you all the best Jacob!
