Lewis Grabban has completed his move from AFC Bournemouth to Aston Villa. Finally! The deal is a loan move until the end of the season and follows Grabban’s loan spell at Sunderland - where he was recalled as the Cherries were looking to sell. That didn’t happen, and Villa had to race Cardiff to his signature - but it seems the move was never actually in doubt.
Villa’s latest striker had this to say about the loan move:
“It’s a pleasure to be at a club like Aston Villa. You only have to look at the stadium, the history and the support to know that this club deserves to be in the Premier League and hopefully I can play my part in getting this club back to where it belongs. It’s an unbelievable squad of players here and they’re on a great run of form as well so it’s a great time to be joining.”
Grabban is a decent option up front for Villa and should help shoulder the burden for the club.
Villa also took the time to produce the now-standard ‘announcement video’ - which is likely a big reason as to why the announcement was delayed until the late evening.
