Birmingham City are a club stuck in a bit of a hole right now. The word on the street is that fans, and the manager, are quite worried about a lack of forward progress over the Summer. While it might not turn into negative results just yet for the Blues, not much is gained from standing still.
Yet, Birmingham could be biding their time for the right moment - and seem ready to make a move for Villa’s Tommy Elphick, who is getting rather disgruntled at Villa Park right now after a lack of game time - falling from captaining the team to the reserves within a year.
In fact, Harry Redknapp had a lot to say to the Birmingham Mail:
“I like Tommy and I followed Tommy’s career at Bournemouth. He was the captain at Bournemouth, he was a leader, he was a fantastic character for Bournemouth in their rise through the divisions.”
After this, he said he’d be ready to make a move for the right price. The right price probably being about thirty pence, which seems to be the budget over in Small Heath.
As for the Blues, Elphick would be a good addition and represent a 100% upgrade over Paul Robinson. The problem is that he might not be as good as Redknapp expects him to be.
