After summer-long speculation that defender and former captain Tommy Elphick would be heading out for some time now, and with other defenders being considered as options, Aston Villa has reportedly rejected a loan offer for the erstwhile captain from Sunderland.
Sky Sports reported the rebuffing from Steve Bruce’s side with just a day is left to find a new home for the former AFC Bournemouth and Brighton and Hove Albion man who started off on the wrong foot for Villa last campaign and never found footing before ceding the position and armband to more fit competition from Nathan Baker and James Chester.
Previously this window Elphick had been on the radar for Birmingham City and James Rushton earlier today laid out Elphick as likely to relocate as well as commenting on a few other rumoured incomings and outgoings. Elphick is likely to leave, but not on these terms and not just yet.
