Aly Cissokho has played many roles for Villa. He was the hero we waited for, when he returned to Remi Garde’s struggling Villa to play left-back (he was bad). He was a starter, a depth option, a fool - everything to everyone, in a sense.
And now? He’s gone, and a team have broke their transfer record to take him in. Don’t get excited.
Yeni Malatyaspor, recently promoted to the Süper Lig - the top division of Turkish football - where they will take on Besiktas, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have decided to splash out £1.3 million on Aly Cissokho.
The funny thing is, Aly’s more than capable of performing in Greek and Turkish football, for some reason. He had a decent spell on loan in Greece before completing this move - so maybe he’s found his level. As long as he doesn’t look scared of the ball, or give away stupid penalties, he’ll have a good time in the Süper Lig.
Godspeed, Aly. You beautiful bastard.
