Is Steve Bruce working on a surprise move for Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere?

Another high profile move with a close friend seems unlikely

After big game hunting over the summer and reeling in prize haul John Terry, it appears Steve Bruce is working old acquaintances again to get some top flight flair into Villa Park before the window closes.

A rumoured enquiry reported by John Cross suggests that Bruce is working with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to bring in (former?) wunderkind Jack Wilshere.

The rumour makes a certain amount of sense in that Wilshere was just last campaign on loan with Bournemouth, but to move a level down would take a pretty good sell from Bruce. It’s one thing to bring in John Terry on what may be his last contract and another to aim for a twenty-six-year-old who has been trying to break back into the Arsenal match day XI. The sale is thus reported to be for big money and large bonuses, not the type of position you’d expect Villa to be in right now, adding to our surprise. We expect Tony Xia to stamp this rumour out.

Then again it could be that a media push is happening to perhaps drum up interest, as The Guardian has also reported a move to Juventus could be in the cards for Wilshere which is backed up by Italian sides La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tutto Mercato Web according to Fox Sports.
