The Villa faithful might not have much longer to consider their treatment of the Dutch-born do-it-all as he is expected to be heading to Reading FC in short order.
Courtney Friday of The Reading Chronicle has written that Bacuna’s representatives have discussed the transfer and The Royals are willing to put up £1.5m to make the move final, though with that number recently being reported as rejected by Villa, it will be interesting to see if his change in situation has become so toxic that those terms return.
Bacuna was a minor surprise at starter in the opener against Hull and though he put in a relatively normal shift for himself, became the subject of boos from some fans in attendance when he took leave in the 70th minute. The event is reported to have been a breaking point for him and he requested an exit afterward.
In addition to clearing up a little bit of the mire of match day lineups, the move would end a tenure at Villa that, according to our James Rushton, probably says more about the atmosphere from a vocal few in the stands for the past several seasons than Bacunas performance on the pitch.
