Jordan Amavi says ‘Au Revoir’ and leaves Aston Villa for France

It’s a homecoming for Amavi who has left Villa for Marseille

Aston Villa have finally said goodbye to Jordan Amavi who has completed a move to Olympique de Marseille after ‘passing a medical’. This comes after the Frenchman’s move to Sevilla fell apart after the Spanish club played the fool and tried to mess around with the player and Villa. Rather unfairly.

This is a great move for Amavi who will be playing Europa League football from now on if Marseille can get past Domzale in the Playoffs. Villa will also bank a bit of cash that will make life a lot easier at Villa Park for Wyness and Xia who are doing all that they can to work under FFP regulations. The fee is assumed to be around €10 million, which is fairly decent for Amavi, considering the horrific injury he endured back in 2015.

Amavi did well to come back from that injury, but could never kick on at Villa Park. A big shame, however Amavi is to be commended for actually returning Villa and doing nothing to force a move. His first match back for Villa, a pre-season game, was a highlight for the Frenchman who gave his all.

That’s another saga over for Villa, and we can finally move on. Time to sort out a back-up at left-back!
