Thank god it’s done. Aston Villa have finally agreed a deal with Manchester United which will see the Villans borrow him for another season. It’s been a bit of a saga to capture Johnstone - and at one point the move was dead. Now it’s not, for whatever reason and Johnstone will link up Villa on a temporary basis once more.
Johnstone is obviously no stranger to Villa Park having made 22 appearances for Villa last season, keeping eight clean sheets. More will be expected of the keeper, who won’t have the benefit of ‘getting used’ to the team this time around, he’s a veteran around these parts now.
The future is bright for Sam Johnstone and it may yet be at United - but he’s got competition and he will use this time to prove himself. If it doesn’t work out though, Villa will surely offer him a permanent deal if he’s up to scratch - which would be ideal.
This means that the Villa move for Joe Hart is dead in the water though, which seems a bit of a shame! However, we welcome back Sam Johnstone with open arms.
