Two years ago a young French left back joined Aston Villa — and the caption on this blog was “A bit of good news! A left back that might actually be able to play football!”
Today, that left back — who can actually play football sometimes — is all but gone.

Good luck for the future, Jordan. pic.twitter.com/8MHlYxXUjF
Amavi offered some glimpses of ability going forward (I sigh remembering two good crosses to Gestede). But in the end was inconsistent and a defensive liability — much like Aston Villa over the last few years.
Jordan played in just under fifty games for the Villa, and bagged four assists. Arguably his best spell at Villa was during the Sherwood days at the start of the 15/16 campaign. However, a crippling injury set the left-back, back - and he’s still clearly on the mend. Hopefully there are better days ahead for the Frenchman - but they won’t be at Villa Park.
The price is rumored to be around £6/7 million — and hopefully a few nice clauses in there for Villa.
Good luck Jordan.
