Aston Villa have completed the signing of John Terry, who has been available as a free agent for about a minute following the expiration of his contract at Chelsea.
Welcome JT to Birmingham city...Aston Villa !#UTV! @AVFCOfficial Announcement shortly!

John Terry comes to Villa with a stellar footballing pedigree - despite the presence of numerous unsavoury incidents on, and off, of the football pitch. Quite easily, he’d be the most successful player to join the team since Robert Pires, or even Stan Petrov! Aston Villa aren’t known for signing trophy winners. Terry would also be an extremely high-profile signing for Villa.
What’s more - Terry turned down a £100,000 a week offer with Birmingham City to join Villa on wages that are reported to be a bit less than what we’re paying (or were paying, he took a paycut with relegation) Micah Richards. Bonus. Speaking of them, we’re sure Terry will make up for it with a prospective promotion windfall - he’ll be the richest footballer in the West Midlands if Villa win the title this year.
JT will likely slot right into Villa’s starting line-up alongside James Chester, and hopefully he’ll be able to help drag Villa to promotion.
