Whether you like the potential signing of John Terry or not, it looks like it’s happening - and Sky Sports believe it’s almost definite.
It seems that Terry’s relationship with Steve Bruce has secured the deal, which would add a fair bit of colossal might to Villa’s backline. Terry is clearly ageing, and despite worries about his character, his physicality and professionalism can’t be criticised - which means he could certainly do a job for Villa.
John Terry is being fast-tracked to Aston Villa, despite the rumours persisting for the best part of a month; but the deal is set to be sealed within the next seven days; but it could be as soon as the first of July.
Aston Villa and Birmingham became the only two serious clubs fighting for Terry and both have made offers, but it’s Villa’s potential that has lured JT, who wants to fight for promotion. There was Premier League interest - but Terry has no desire to play against Chelsea, at all.
While Terry would represent an improvement over Tommy Elphick, it seems rather unfair that Nathan Baker is shunted from the lineup - especially after enjoying his best season of football for Villa. That’s football though. Terry is expected to line up with James Chester - unless Villa play three at the back.
It looks like this could be Villa’s first move of the summer, and it’s a pretty big one.
