Aston Villa put Veretout and Amavi up for sale

According to the French publication L’Equipe, Aston Villa are set to cash in on Jordan Amavi and Jordan Veretout. This follows news of the potential sale of Carles Gil to Deportivo La Coruna and the sale of Carlos Sanchez to Fiorentina. What this means is that the vast majority of Aston Villa’s loan contingent are looking at a Summer move to a new football club.

Jordan Amavi is the surprise name on the list - having turned down a £25 million move in the Winter, it seems that Aston Villa’s operations team of Round, Wyness, Xia and Bruce see no future for Amavi at the club. After a promising first year that was cut short by an awful injury, Amavi failed to impress at left-back and on the wing. The interest in Amavi is widespread - with Napoli and Atletico Madrid circling the former Nice defender.

As for Jordan Veretout? He’s had a decent year at AS Saint Ètienne where he featured in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Europa League for Les Verts and it looks like he will be returning to Saint Ètienne on a permanent transfer deal.

Aston Villa won’t bank on these two deals - with it being highly likely that they will gather a return of £15 million from the pair, however, that could fund another transfer and shows that Aston Villa are making moves towards becoming sustainable.
