Carles Gil really, really wants Aston Villa to sell him

Gil has enjoyed his time in Spain and wants to stay.

Aston Villa’s Carles Gil is fearing a return to Birmingham and has once again requested that Aston Villa sell him to Deportivo La Coruna.

Speaking to La Voz de Galica, Gil had plenty to say about his current stint in Spain. Namely, that he wants Villa to do right by him and sell him to a club where he is progressing fairly well. Gil has been creative for Deportivo, and seems to be back on the right track.

Gil’s comments shouldn’t be taken as an insult to Aston Villa. He’d do well to return to the club, but someone like Steve Bruce wouldn’t really use him. If Bruce can’t get the best out of Jack Grealish, he shouldn’t use Gil. Returning to Villa? It will mean the reserves for Gil and it could stunt his career.

Carles Gil was a bit of a cultish figure at Aston Villa. In a similar way to the abilities of Adama Traore, Gil lit up the field when he was on it. The difference between him and Traore? Gil had a bit of an end product. It’d be sad to see him go, but he clearly has no future at Villa.
