Villa not good enough for Newcastle-bound striker

The wit and wisdom of Remi Garde wasn't enough to convince Seydou Doumbia to join the Villans

Aston Villa are enduring a torrid time with transfers as of late.

If it wasn't enough that they were operating with a tiny transfer budger or that the FA had blocked their only 'done deal'; Remi Garde isn't able to convince want-away stars to join his cause at Villa. As reported in the Mirror, Remi Garde went to great lengths in an attempt to persuade Seydou Doumbia to join Aston Villa, but it turns out that our humble football team and the position they are in is not attractive enough for Doumbia.

Doumbia, like many others this transfer window has opted for another football club, this time going to Newcastle United. Doumbia may very well have brought goals to this Aston Villa team, but let me ask you this - do we ever want a player we have to 'convince' into joining up to Remi Garde's team?

My answer is no. Newcastle can have him and pray he doesn't jump ship if the worst happens to them!
