Jed Steer has joined Huddersfield Town on a 28-day emergency loan. The Terriers handed Steer the number one jersey and he is eligible to play for them right away, including in tomorrow's match against Cardiff City.
For Huddersfield Town, loaning Steer became necessary after first-choice keeper Joe Murphy suffered a leg injury in training. With Steer between the sticks, Huddersfield will be looking for their first win of the season to improve on their dreadful start which sees them currently sitting in 22th out of 24 in the Championship. The Terriers have taken just three points from their first five matches, plus a loss to Notts County in the League Cup.
For Steer, this represents the next stage in his development into a Premier League regular. After making 33 appearances in 2014 for League One sides Doncaster Rovers and Yeovil Town, Steer will now step up to the Championship for a possible five matches.
Steer made his first Premier League appearance for Aston Villa in the season-ending 0-1 loss to Burnley. However, he sits third on the depth chart behind Brad Guzan and Mark Bunn, so more appearances are were likely to come in the next month.
Good luck, Jed!
