One of the best moves that Aston Villa made this summer was securing the services of Jordan Amavi to finally give the club an above-average left back for the first time in years. Tim Sherwood has said numerous times that he really likes what he sees in Bennett, and after a year on loan last season, it's undeniable that he looks better. But he's not going to get much playing time outside of cup competitions at Villa this year, so a loan makes tons of sense.
The contract extension will bump his finish date with Villa from this coming summer to the summer of 2017 as well, so this is a chance for Bennett to prove himself and either earn some playing time with Villa or secure a move to a better place for him.
