With the deadline past and the transfer window officially closed, we can now assess all of the moves that Aston Villa made this summer. Tim Sherwood came into the year with a lot of doubts about how he would handle his first-ever transfer window, and early reviews seem to be that he passed with flying colors.
The one issue that Villa are left with is the question of how long it's going to take eleven new players (twelve if you count sort-of-new Scott Sinclair) to gel. The early results have been mixed, but if the team can come together quickly, this is a batch that are set to be significantly better than last season's 38-point 17th-place disaster.
So, here's all of the moves that Sherwood made this summer. In total, we've got thirteen incoming players (loan and purchase), thirteen outgoing, and six outgoing loans. That's not a bad amount of work for three months.
