Transfer deadline day is in full swing, and with just over four hours left, Nathan Baker has joined Bristol City on loan.

There were rumours of a Baker loan move earlier in the window, and today it was confirmed that he will spend the season on loan elsewhere, with Bristol City as his destination.

A loan move to a Championship side is a good move for Baker. He has good physical attributes, but a spell in a lower division will give him the chance to build on his technical ability, that we have so far yet to see at Villa. Being 24 years old, time is running out for Baker as a prospect, but it wouldn't be fair to call him a bust just yet. This season could be make or break however. A good year sees him compete for first team football next year, but a bad one sees the academy graduate potentially placed on the transfer list.

Baker may be gone, but Villa could be on the verge of signing a new centre half, with Liverpool's Thiago Ilori linked today. Stick around here at 7500 to Holte for all the latest deadline day news and rumours!
