Don't call it a comeback, we've been in for him for.. years? Dimitar Berbatov's potential move to Aston Villa is only beaten in longevity by Adebayor's, which as come back from the dead more times than MJ in Thriller. Sky Sports and The Express are waving their 'It's Happening' flags.
Berbatov's move as well as Ade's looked to be dead in the water after the signings of Rudy Gestede and Jordan Ayew, but from this news (and the Dwight Gayle rumour), it would look that Tim Sherwood is still very much in the market for a forward. But Villa need someone more explosive than Berbatov, who hasn't got the highest work rate on the best of days.
What's more, Berbatov would arrive on a free transfer, the details of which are unknown, but if it's anything like Andre Ayew's rumoured contract (£6m signing on fee + bonuses), he may as well stay at home.
The good news? This shows that Tim does know his team are lacking up front, but surely there are better options. In any case, what do you think? Leave a comment below
