Aston Villa is a team with more club statements than wins or even points, and with today's farewell to another prominent member of the board, you can chalk up yet another one; with more yet to come over what looks to be an eventful summer for the Villans.

Adrian Bevington has departed Aston Villa, but there's not much more to it than that - he has simply completed the job he was brought in to do as a football advisor to Steve Hollis and was pretty much set to leave the club at the end of the season anyway.

Aston Villa seem to be on the verge of a sale to a consortium of China-based businessmen and that would seem to bring an end to Steve Hollis' role at the football club and thus, Bevington's as his advisor.

Aston Villa's official website had more to say, including this from Chairman Steve Hollis:

"Over a short period of time, he has provided a great deal of football knowledge and experience - both to the Club and to me personally.Adrian gave me his word he would remain with the Club until the end of the season. Now that time has come we wish him well for the future with his various football commitments."

This does seem to be a positive move and doesn't bring about the red flags that flared up under the shroud of David Bernstein's and Lord King's departures from the club and actually seems to be a sign that things might be moving forward, either under Steve Hollis who has received the advice of Bevington or under a new ownership group.
