Aston Villa have been drawn away against Brighton in the third round of the Carabao Cup, on the week commencing 23rd of September. The match will take place at Brighton’s Amex Stadium.
Villa earned the chance to take the second step on their League Cup journey after beating Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road by six goals to one. Conor Hourihane scored twice, with Jack Grealish, Ezri Konsa, Frederic Guilbert, and Keinan Davis adding a goal each.
Brighton beat Bristol Rovers 2-1 last night to guarantee their passage into the third round - and a host of other Premier League opposition have been added to the mix including Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Villa’s chances of silverware are slim - but as a Premier League club they should be keeping one eye on a clear pathway to the final. First things first though - they’ll need to beat another Premier League club in Brighton and Hove Albion.
