A few weeks ago, Aston Villa announced the signing of Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge for a club record fee of £22 million. The Brazilian forward’s move had been delayed due to his need for a work permit to become an employee of Aston Villa.

This has now been granted, and the transfer has been concluded. Big Wes is a Villan, and follows Matt Targett, Jota, Kortney Hause and Anwar El Ghazi as Villa’s fifth (official) signing of the summer.

Wesley is a tricky striker, used to dropping deep and helping his team build up. The striker also has experience of Champions League and Europa League football thanks to Brugge’s exploits on the continent last season. Wesley is an aerial threat with a lot to prove and a large price tag to justify.

Here’s how we think he’ll fit into the club.

Here’s the record signing’s first interview with the club:

The next steps? In his own words, it’s time for Big Wes to settle in, show his quality and score some goals. Tomorrow will be his first chance as pre-season training begins for Aston Villa, and Wesley’s stint at the club truly begins.
