The Premier League fixture 'leak' is false

A leaked list of fixtures for the opening round of the 19/20 Premier League is easily debunkable.

According to rumour, Aston Villa’s first match of the season will see them take on Leicester City FC at home on a Sunday. The rumour stems from a ‘leak’ reportedly from the Premier League that displays the first round of Premier League fixtures.

Apparently, on the Saturday, Arsenal will face Crystal Palace and Tottenham will take on Norwich.

So, this leak. You wanted to see it?

Major outlets are reporting this alleged leak as news, but it's not. They are speculating about the fixtures, but it all seems false. This image is a fabrication. Even if you ignore the poor quality of the image there are a number of factual errors in content of the image itself.

Here’s the thing: BT Sport and Sky Sports won the bid for a separate set of fixture packages each. BT won the rights to show early Saturday kick-offs but have been presented in the mocked up leak as having won the right to show the late Saturday kick-off.

Furthermore, the Sunday kick-off times are wrong. According to the Premier League's own information, Sunday games will kick off at 2pm or 4.30pm. There is also no fixture listed for Friday the 9th.

It’s possible that this fixtures correspond to the first round of Premier League matches, but with so much incorrect information on display there is more than enough reason to doubt it.

We'll just have to wait until tomorrow for an actual fixture list!
