Villa broke the ice by drawing with Stoke - and then opened the floodgates by battering three top-table teams in consecutive fashion. The hunt for a play-off place is back on and Aston Villa look a more galvanised side.
In other words, they are closer to 6th place, but they still have a lot of work to do.
Today, Tony Pulis and Middlesbrough come to town hoping to consolidate their league position and shut down an uppity Villa side. It’s no secret that Boro have been on a wobble as of late - but they can get back on top by crushing Villa at Villa Park.
As for Villa? If all goes their way elsewhere in the Championship - they could end up as the 6th placed team heading into the international break.
