The away side caught the Women in claret and blue off guard in the 6th minute after London City’s Ellie Mason placed the ball past Sian Rodgers from close range.
Aston Villa responded to conceding early five minutes later after the artful attacker Emma Follis tapped the ball into the net from the back post to equalise for the home side.
An opportunity arose for Gemma Davies’ side to take the lead after a penalty was awarded in the 20th minute however Ewers’ sport kick was brilliantly saved by the visiting goalkeeper.
The Boldmere army continued to passionately support their side as the Women in claret and blue relentlessly pressurised London City’s defence and eventually took the lead in the 26th after Emily Symes’ deflected shot flew into the top corner of the net.
Villa’s Women showed no mercy and continued to press for a third goal as Amy West and Melissa Johnson went close to scoring either side of half time however an exquisite finish from Marisa Ewers in the 75th minute secured Villa’s 10th win of the season.
After a fantastic start to their campaign in the FA Women’s Championship this season, can Aston Villa Women remain unbeaten for the entire season and gain promotion to the FA WSL? Let’s hope so!
