Douglas Luiz has provided Aston Villa with two jaw-dropping goals in this young season so far, and that hasn’t gone unnoticed.
As reported by Jack Lang for The Athletic, the young midfielder has earned a call-up to the Brazilian senior international team for their November friendly matches against Argentina and South Korea.

The midfield all-rounder has found game-time hard to come by, but has still managed to add a fair few highlights to his early Aston Villa career. A long-range goal against Bournemouth announced his presence, while a pass straight from street football showed his talents against Brighton. Luiz also replicated his first goal with an exact replica against Norwich City in a 5-1 Villa win. While his game-time has been limited, Luiz has managed to maximise his impact. Douglas has also impressed for the Brazilian youth team for a number of years, so while his call-up might come as a slight surprise to some Villa fans due to his rotational status within the squad, it is very clear that he is on the radar of the Brazilian FA - having captained Brazil at youth level.
The Seleção will likely deploy Luiz against South Korea and any appearance for Brazil will represent his first senior cap. It will also make Douglas Luiz the first Aston Villa player to appear in the legendary yellow shirt.
