Harry McKirdy is the latest young Villan to join his teammates in exiting Aston Villa today - with a short-term loan to Newport County the most recent in a long string of youth loan deals that have taken place today on transfer deadline day.

McKirdy is one of Villa’s more experienced loanees and the promising striker will enjoy a third stint in League Two having previously spent time on loan at Crewe Alexandra and Stevenage FC. He’ll be looking to make an impact and build on the gradual improvements he has shown at L2 level thus far. As shown in club media, McKirdy is a likeable figure and seems to enjoy his loan spells out, let’s hope that this is another step towards building and establishing a footballing portfolio that will either impress Head Coach Dean Smith, or a new suitor. To do that, he’ll have to score a little bit more than the 3 goals he tallied last time out at Crewe.

Newport, currently fighting for a mid-table place, should give him a good enough platform to do just that.

Best of luck Harry!
