The 20-year old will meet up with Rushian Hepburn-Murphy who has already been loaned out to United. One big reason for both players to go there — Head Coach Colin Calderwood worked with the pair of them when he was with Aston Villa. Calderwood is pleased with the addition, “Jake as a central midfielder, increases the competition in order to make the squad better. He is a young man who I believe will develop into a very good player, and having seen him train before is extremely capable.”
Cambridge United currently sit 20th in League Two — just three points clear of the drop. Hopefully both RHM and JDH can help the team jump up the table — and grow as players during the process.
Doyle-Hayes has made three appearances in the first team and is under contract with Villa until 2020 after signing a three year deal in September 2017.
