Callum O’Hare will spend the rest of the season on loan at Carlisle United. The Aston Villa forward has seen limited action making only one start for the first team - Villa’s the third-round FA Cup loss to Swansea City. The 20-year old has starred for the U23s again this season tallying three goals and an assist in 10 Premier League 2 appearances.

O’Hare will join two others as Carlisle makes an aggressive push for promotion from League Two. The Cumbrians active transfer activity also included signing Sheffield United’s Nathan Thomas on loan and Plymouth’s Peter Grant in the same day.

This seems like a solid move for the Villa youngster. The opportunity to be a part of a promotion push in addition to picking up regular playing time outside the U23s with a side near the top of the table. O’Hare seems ready to graduate from the U23s but can’t seem to break into Dean Smith’s game day lineup. Villa fans may be watching move closely as this a similar move Jack Grealish made early in his career as he spent time at Notts County in League One. The opportunity proved beneficial to the playmaker and any growth and development in O’Hare’s game while away from Villa Park will be seen as a step forward for the player.
