Aston Villa, with immediate effect, have suspended CEO Keith Wyness. Keith has not been heard from in an official capacity since Aston Villa lost in the Championship Play-off final against Fulham.

The club’s statement is as follows:

Aston Villa Football Club can confirm that Chief Executive, Keith Wyness, has been suspended by the club with immediate effect.

Owner and Chairman, Dr Tony Xia will assume the role until further notice.

There will be no further comment from the club at this time.

According to BBC WM Sport 96.5, the suspension relates to a missed tax payment. These remain allegations, but it is mentioned that Aston Villa are currently working to correct their alleged mistake.

Amidst rumors of Tony Xia looking to sell Aston Villa, a consortium of British business owners looking to buy the club, and near-constant rumors of Financial Fair Play breaches to come, this is not a good look for the club.
