Hey - James here.
We're looking for new people to join our editorial staff here at 7500 to Holte.
If you think you’re up for it, let us know!
We are especially interested in bringing aboard writers who will broaden our worldview. Women. People from other parts of the world. People with disabilities. Basically: we’re looking to encourage diversity on our site.
Still, there’s no set criteria for the type of person we are looking for, we just want you to know that your application is welcome, no matter who you are!
We also want to make our writing diverse. If you want a platform for your Villa Ladies ramblings - join us. If you want to rant about xG and statistics - welcome. Fancy moaning a bit? Howdy. Want to follow Villa’s U23 side? Do it. We’re happy to air everything Villa.
That said, our ultimate objective is to work with the best Aston Villa writers around, no matter what. If you want to write about Aston Villa, there’s a place for you here.
The positions below are open right now. If you want to apply, please fill out this Google form. If you'd like to write for us but don't fit one of the available slots, fill out the form and let us know what you would like to do. If you’ve applied in the past and we’ve been stupid and overlooked you, please fill out the form.
It should go without saying that the number one requirement for all of these positions is a passion for Aston Villa.
Additionally, we want to be upfront about compensation. None of these positions are, at least at first, paid positions. And while there is the possibility for advancement, nobody who writes here makes a living off of it. If you're looking to do this for the money, I'm afraid we aren't for you. If you're looking to do it because you love writing and you love Aston Villa: welcome! What we CAN offer is a massive platform and the opportunity to work with a site that has a huge presence on Facebook, Twitter, the web, and in podcasting. We understand that getting your work seen is of huge importance. We can give you the opportunity, tools and skills to give you a boost and the perfect portfolio.
The truth is, being part of 7500 to Holte has certainly launched a few careers. If you want a platform for your talents, we can help you.
What’s on offer? Well, mainly we’d like news and opinion to back up the quality writing we are already putting out there. We aren’t against columns either. Previews? Hey. Go for it. Below is a description of what we think we’re looking for, but feel free to surprise us.
News writer
In addition to providing features, opinions, and commentary, 7500 to Holte aims to be the Aston Villa fan's go-to site for all of the latest Aston Villa news. To that end, we are looking to bring aboard some dedicated news writers who are willing to work quickly and accurately to publish the daily goings-on of the club.
Responsibilities: News writers will be responsible for covering daily and breaking news surrounding Aston Villa. This can range from transfer rumours, to injuries, to news of whatever it is Tony Xia is tweeting about in a given day. Writers will need to get a story published promptly and accurately, and should also be able to add their own perspective on the story. We strive to go beyond simply reporting what has happened and let our readers know why it matters.
Qualifications/Requirements: News writers must be comfortable writing quickly and with minimal editorial oversight. They should have a history of writing and a passion for all things Aston Villa. Additionally, they will need to be available with some regularity to write. While we strive to cover Aston Villa every day, every writer need not be available at all times. They should, however, be available when they have said they will be.
