In no surprise to anyone at all, Tammy Abraham has taken home the EFL Player of the Month award for November 2018.
Tammy's goals - no less than six, secured the award.
Aston Villa’s recent successes have caught a lot of attention - and that’s translating into awards. Both Dean Smith and Tammy were nominated for an award for outstanding performance in November 2018 - with Smith nominated for Manager of the Month and Tammy, of course, nominated for player of the month.
And for good reason. Smith has seen his Villa side storm the Championship - Villa were ruthless in November and the only smudge on that record in the past month was a 5-5 draw with Nottingham Forest in a crazy goal-to-goal game. There is no surprise about Abraham’s nomination either - with the Chelsea loanee bagging four whole goals in that same draw.
Typically, high performances do come to a conclusion - and there is a reason that these awards are often seen as ‘cursed’ - simply because it is hard to be consistent with the incredible performances that scoop these rewards and nominations up.
While Tammy stormed home to claim his award, Dean Smith lost out to Daniel Farke, who's impressive Norwich side are leading the way into December 2018.
Let’s hope they are both up for consideration once more when the calendar ticks over into Janaury and the start of a new year. Congratulations Tammy!
