Life needs a Ctrl+Z option.
So does football. Aston Villa has announced Tommy Elphick will be back with the club on January first after spending the first half the year with Hull after being loaned out.
It seemed like a dumb decision at the time — in hindsight — it was confirmed as a dumb decision.
We can confirm @TommyElph4 has been recalled from his loan spell with Hull City – and will be eligible to play against QPR on New Year’s Day.

I get the premise because there were all kinds of rumors that Steve Bruce was going to bring in another defender — but you can’t let your #3 (Bruce clearly had Jedinak as #2 — but that is a different rant) CB walk without a solid plan. Jedinak clearly did not work out. Tuanzebe has been very good next to Chester — but is currently injured. So Elphick makes all the sense in the world.
It sounds like the player is happy about it too.
Ultimately I’m absolutely delighted to go back to @AVFCOfficial and get going under the new manager and adding to this exciting group of players pushing for another promotion. UTV!!

The 31-year old made 18 appearances for Hull. Nigel Atkins seemed resigned to the switch this week, “From my point of view he’s done great for us and his form has probably alerted Aston Villa to the situation because he was out of there”
On January 1 — Aston Villa will welcome a new keeper and welcome back a steady hand at center back who could slot right in or offer depth where the team desperately needs it. 2019 — maybe you won’t be so bad after all.
