When a new name shows up on the match day team sheet, Aston Villa fans have been given good reason to be excited. Some of the most encouraging developments of the 2017-2018 campaign for Aston Villa have been the contributions of up-and-comers into the senior squad.

One of the more highly regarded youths is midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes, and it’s reported with excitement today that Aston Villa announced he has signed a new contract to remain with the team until 2020.

The 18-year-old has been at Bodymoor Heath Academy for three years already and has made an incredible impression with his swagger and work ethic, as well of course as his impact on the pitch where he performed well in Germany during the pre-season Cup of Traditions in one instance springing Scott Hogan for a goal. After that impressive outing, Doyle-Hayes was rewarded with his first team debut, starting the 4-1 Carabao Cup victory against Wigan Athletic.

A regular captain on the Premier Academy League and for the team’s U23 lineups, Doyle-Hayes has also shown an ability to lead to go along with his vision and passing.

Highlighted by Keinan Davis earning the spotlight against Norwich City in league play and Callum O’Hare acquainting himself in Carabao Cup action against Colchester, Doyle-Hayes is a part of a youth movement through the ranks of the Claret and Blue that should continue to support the squad in future years.
