All I want this season is for Alan Hutton to score his second Aston Villa goal. Sure, promotion would be nice, but an Alan Hutton goal would be nicer.
Sure, he is no Dani Alves, but he’s a grafter, and always looks to attack (even if his final ball leaves a lot to be desired). Defensively, he isn’t the strongest, but he now plays in a decent-on-paper defence.
The question is, just how much of Alan Hutton will we see this season? The Scotsman was first choice at right back last season, but Ritchie De Laet, James Bree and Ahmed Elmohamady have all been signed in that position since Hutton, suggesting that he is not the man that Steve Bruce wants in that position.
It’s probably for the best, but at the same time, Hutton has become something of a fan favourite. Rotation will happen, and I’m sure that we will see Alan Hutton at least a few times. And if we see Alan Hutton, we’ll hear Villa Park singing his name. Music to everybody’s ears.
What a man.
