In that could be one of the most important and under the radar moves — Steve Bruce has reunited with Ahmed Elmohamady for the third time. The right-side player can play as a part of the midfield or the defense — and will look for a cross at every opportunity. The 29-year old will likely begin the season as a starter at right wing and then will compete with Albert Adomah once he is ready to go.
Elmo is a simple player. Get the ball in a wide position and find a cross into the box. Good. The team needs service into the box — and as attacking players get used to working with Elmo — they will (hopefully) spend more time in the box ready to receive service.
In the locker room — a man who knows Steve Bruce AND who has been promoted with him -- can only be positive. The three year contract and £1m purchase price (via release clause) mean the deal is low-risk.
