Welcome to the midway point of our roundtable! Today we take a closer look at Aston Villa’s players. Last year we featured Jordan Ayew heavily here. Hopefully this year we can do better. Not like we can do much worse...
As ever, we want to hear from you. Give us your thoughts and predictions in the comments below!
Who will be Aston Villa’s top goalscorer this season?
Alex: Jonathan Kodjia. Don’t think anyone else even hits 10.
Elis: Got to be Jonathan Kodjia. Hopefully the gap between him and 2nd top scorer is a lot closer this season though.
Herbert: Jonathan Kodjia.
James: Jonathan Kodjia - who else? Proven talent and knows how to find the goal down in the Championship. However, we'll need a lot more from Villa's striking corps; namely Ross and Hogan if we want promotion.
Phil: Jonathan Kodjia.
Robert: Wouldn’t it be funny if I said Kodjia would be the top scorer in the league but not for Villa? Pretty sure that Kanye would waltz in here and give me the ol’ “I’mma let you finish” spiel.
But I’m not about to give Yeezy that pleasure, so Kodjia. Duh.

Who will supply the assists for Villa this season?
Alex: Conor Hourihane should be the answer, but given how poorly he’s been utilized, it’ll be Albert Adomah.
Elis: I’ll go with a tie between Conor Hourihane and Elmo, just to be different.
Herbert: Conor Hourihane.
James: They will come from all over the park, but I'd look to Henri Lansbury. With Jedinak and Whelan backing him up, I'd look to see him use his creativity to get forward and make Villa happen.
Phil: Conor Hourihane.
Robert: John Terry, for all of the assistance he will give us in making us love Villa again. Wait, no. Sorry. Adomah. That’s what I meant.

Who is your Aston Villa player to watch this season?
Alex: Jack Grealish, if he gets the opportunity. He scored four goals and notched five assists in his 20 starts last season. Let him be the goalscoring threat from midfield Villa need.
Elis: Andre Green. Looked super lively in pre-season. Hopefully he gets significant minutes this season, and hopefully he’ll stop hitting the woodwork!
Herbert: Jonathan Kodjia.
James: Conor Hourihane. He's a professional and he knows he will have to step up his game this season. He was bombastic for Barnsley before a move to Villa threw him off. Expect big things from this man.
Phil: James Bree -- will (hopefully) solidfy the RB position.
Robert: Nathan Bak... oh hell. Then Kodjia. I think he’s going to set this league on fire.
