Ladies and gentlemen, football is back! Which means one thing, Aston Villa are back. That’s right, starting next weekend, Aston Villa get their second Championship campaign underway, with the hopes of making it back to the Premier League. Can they do it? Time will tell.
Before Villa can take to the pitch against Hull City next weekend, we proudly present to you, the 7500 to Holte pre-season roundtable. Each day this week, we take a look at the predictions of our writers. In this, part one, we take a look at the promotion and relegation candidates in the division.
Let us know what you think in the comments below, and on social media, and enjoy!
Who will win the Championship this season?
Alex: Middlesbrough. They really should dominate this division.
Elis: There’s no one obvious unlike last season, which could make for an interesting season. Middlesbrough are in the best position of the three relegated sides, and I think they’ll go back up, probably as champions.
Herbert: Sheffield Wednesday
James: I have really strong hopes that it will be Villa, but I think Middlesbrough are a realistic option.
Which sides do you think will get promoted and relegated from the division this season?
Alex: Fulham will join Boro in the automatic slots, while Sheffield Wednesday go up via the play-off. At the other end, I think the Burton Albion dream continues for another year, as Nottingham Forest, Millwall and Reading will drop. Nathan Baker and Bristol City just survive.
Elis: Middlesbrough, joined by Fulham, and possibly a wildcard like Wolves. Barnsley, Sheffield United and Bristol City to drop.
Herbert: Promoted: Middlesbrough, Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday
James: I think Boro and Reading will go up, not sure on the third. I really believe that Millwall will struggle and go down though. Birmingham need to get it together as do Forest, otherwise they might join Millwall.
Phil: Middlesbrough, Fulham, Derby -- promotion. Down -- Burton, Bolton, Millwall
Robert: Going up: Middlesbrough, Villa, Fulham. Dropping: Birmingham City, Millwall, Bristol City.
