Promotion is the goal. Ahmed Elmohamady has been there and done that — and now he hopes (and so do the rest of us) to do the same in claret and blue. The Egyptian fullback/winger signed a three-year deal and will join the squad heading to Germany for the preseason Cup of Traditions tournament.
As previous discussed this is a reunion between Elmohamady and Steve Bruce who will now be part of the same team for a third different club (Hull and Sunderland being the other two).
The right back position is crowded but there is plenty of time (and speculation) about outgoing transfers. Elmo can do a job, joins a system that he knows, and offers promotion experience. The 29-year-old was not an expensive buy (reported to be £1m release clause) and hopefully not on crazy high wages.
It isn’t a sexy deal -- but hopefully it turns out to be a positive one.
