Aston Villa’s transfer season has heated up over the last number of weeks, but not in terms of incoming signings, but on outgoing deals. Jordan Amavi suffered a collapsed move to Sevilla after the Spanish side decided to work the deal to lower the fee, but Carles Gil and Carlos Sanchez have already left for Deportivo La Coruna and Fiorentina respectively.
The next departure? It might just be Tommy Elphick. The defender has spent just a season at Villa, but couldn’t make much of an impact - at times looking stressed and beleaguered, especially during the home game against Newcastle. With John Terry’s arrival, it looks like Elphick may be moved on.
The main interest? It’s from the Championship. Leeds United are believed to be heavily interested in Elphick, while it is claimed that Sunderland are the favourites to sign Tommy. Birmingham City are believed to be mulling over a deal as well - but their last move for a Villa defender didn’t exactly work out well.
