Aston Villa have confirmed that James Chester has been replaced as the captain of the football club and will no longer lead the team onto the pitch, nor wear the armband during the coming 2017/2018.
In actual fact, you’ll never guess who will replace him!

It seems a bit strange, yet obvious, that Terry has been called up into the role as Villa captain. James Chester was a great leader of the team and stepped in well when Villa lost Tommy Elphick to injury, and continued to see out the season in good form.
However, how could John Terry not be the captain of Aston Villa? He’s the captain. He’s the most captain-ist around. When is John Terry not a captain? Certainly not at Villa, where he will be the captain - because of course.
It’s a shame for James Chester, but it was clear that Terry would lead Villa this season. Let’s hope he’s up to the task.
