Harry McKirdy was the Hong-Kong hero for Aston Villa as his goals helped Aston Villa qualify for the next round of the HK Soccer Sevens. With three goals in three games, McKirdy helped Villa beat Bayer Leverkusen, Singapore CC and gained a 2-2 draw with HKFA.

McKirdy, captain of the Villa side said that his team only had eyes to retain the trophy.

Villa have won this prestigious youth tournament six times, and their current crop of youngsters will look to make it seven. They have easily qualified for tomorrow’s knockout rounds and have topped their current group - featuring Bayer, Singapore and HKFA.

Villa’s squad for the Summer tournament is made up of Viktor Johansson in goal Mitch Clark, Jacob Bedeau, Jake Doyle Hayes, Alex Prosser, Jordan Cox, Corey Blackett-Taylor and with Callum O’Hare, Harry McKirdy & Keinan Davis leading the line. Only two of these youngsters have made first team appearances, with Davis impressing the most. We’ll soon see if Mckirdy and co make the grade at Villa Park.
