Scott Hogan will be back for Pre-Season

Villa’s expensive forward hasn’t been badly injured - thankfully

Heart in mouth. That’s the feeling you get when Scott Hogan falls over. The former-Brentford man has suffered two debilitating injuries early into his career and will now tally up his third injury during his time at Aston Villa.

Scott Hogan twisted his ankle during the first half of Villa’s Championshop curtain closer against Brighton and limped off the pitch after spending a number of minutes being attended to by medical staff. Thankfully, the Express and Star have noted that Hogan’s injury did not damage the bones or ligaments of Hogan’s ankle and was simply a painful twist.

Jonathan Kodjia broke his ankle during Villa’s game with Blackburn and will miss an enormous chunk of the summer. So Hogan’s return? It’s good news and means Villa will not need to panic buy. If anyone needs a summer rest, it’s Hogan.

Steve Bruce will be thinking about these injuries and has asked a lot of both Kodjia and Hogan - Kodjia who has played non-stop throughout the season in Gabon and England and Hogan who was added into the lineup without pause following injuries. Both will need to be benched and rested throughout the season if Villa want promotion.
