Aston Villa are on a run of form unlike any that we’ve seen this decade. In their past seven matches, they have six wins. All six of those wins were clean sheets. In their lone match that was not a win, they allowed one goal in defeat. Matches are suddenly seeming less stressful (well, okay, I say that now, but when Villa were missing chances on Saturday, I was plenty stressed). And, despite the fact that we all know that it is just about the longest of long shots, some of us are daring to think about a playoff chase.
If that chase is to happen, a win against Queens Park Rangers at Villa Park today is probably necessary. Heck, in the seven remaining matches it’s hard to envision any scenario in which Villa have any hope of a top-6 finish that doesn’t involve at least six wins, so we might as well get the ones at home that we can.
So this is a big one. Can Jonathan Kodjia continue to score whenever he pleases? Will injuries finally reach such a state that the team collapses? Or can the dream run continue long enough to make us truly rue the five-match losing streak that preceded this whole thing?
Well, it starts here and now. And we’ve got everything you need to follow along.
