The big Aston Villa news of the evening was that former Villa midfielder, Fabian Delph, was set to make a shock loan move to Aston Villa.
The loan move was ridiculed by many AVFC fans, who despite wanting their team to win games, do not want a proven midfielder associated with their club.
However, this story looks like it may stay just that - a story. The Press Association’s Nick Mashiter has put an end to those whispers with a single tweet.
Told that, categorically, Villa are not trying to re-sign Fabian Delph from Man City. #avfc #mcfc

Delph, for no want of trying, has only started eight games since making his controversial move to Eastlands in 2015. There is no denying that Fabian would make this Villa team better and would fill a huge Fabian Delph-size crater that has existed in this team for the past two seasons.
Villa will have to now look elsewhere for a midfield option - which will likely be Nottingham’s Henri Lansbury.
