The Birmingham Mail have confirmed that Aston Villa’s young goalkeeping prodigy, Pierluigi Gollini is set to leave Villa Park, albeit on a temporary basis. Steve Bruce had this to say:
Gollini will be heading out on loan to Atalanta, 6th placed in the Serie A table - meaning they are battling it out with AC Milan, Lazio and Inter for a Europa League spot right now.
Weirdly, the loan deal isn’t until the end of the season - it’s actually an 18-month deal with no option to buy. This means Gollini could be away from Villa right up until the end of next season. This doesn’t correlate with the loan of Sam Johnstone, which expires in June.
What this means for Aston Villa, is that they will be a goalkeeper down - a worrying position if they do clinch promotion come the close of the season.
Aston Villa have shipped off another player on loan, and it is increasingly looking like a long list of transfer mistakes - Gollini, Sanchez, Gil and Veretout make up a core bunch of expensive Villans who are plying their trade elsewhere.
